“Deal agreed” – Chelsea are moving closer to signing a Liverpool target who has been labelled the “best player in his age group.”
Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of securing South American prodigy Deinner Ordonez, per renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues appear to have moved swiftly to strike an agreement for the highly rated youngster, who had also been on Liverpool’s radar according to the Daily Mail. Reporter Lewis Steele previously highlighted that “youth scouts have described him as the best player in his age group in the whole of South America,” as noted by Empire of the Kop.
Romano has now issued his trademark “here we go” on X, confirming:
“EXCLUSIVE: Deinner Ordonez to Chelsea, here we go! Agreement reached today for the 16-year-old talented defender to join the #CFC project. Independiente del Valle have accepted all conditions as Chelsea beat out interest from three top European clubs. The Ecuadorian will join in January 2028.”

The club’s owners have remained committed to snapping up top global talents for the future, and Ordonez is the latest standout identified for their long-term vision at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool were also thought to be keen on the Ecuadorian starlet, but Chelsea once again look to have acted decisively, much like their successful pursuits of Estevao Willian, Kendry Paez, Aaron Anselmino and numerous other rising stars.
While fans may have to wait a few years before Ordonez features for the senior team, Chelsea clearly rate him highly — otherwise, he might have first been sent to their partner club Strasbourg, as is common with other prospects.
