“Deal agreed” – Chelsea set to secure Liverpool-linked talent hailed as the “top player of his age group.”
Chelsea are reportedly on the verge of securing South American starlet Deinner Ordonez, according to respected journalist Fabrizio Romano.
The Blues appear to have acted quickly to finalise an agreement for Ordonez, a player Liverpool had also been monitoring closely, per the Daily Mail. Lewis Steele, who wrote the original report, claimed that youth scouts consider the teenager “the best player of his age group in the whole of South America,” as relayed by Empire of the Kop.
Romano has now delivered his trademark “here we go,” confirming that Chelsea have struck a deal for the highly rated 16-year-old. The Italian journalist revealed: “EXCLUSIVE: Deinner Ordonez to Chelsea, here we go! Agreement reached today for the talented 16-year-old defender to join the #CFC project. Independiente del Valle have accepted all terms as Chelsea beat out three major European clubs. The Ecuadorian will arrive in January 2028.”
Chelsea closing in on another elite prospect
The club’s owners have made a habit of snapping up the most promising young talents from across the globe, and Ordonez is the latest player identified for their long-term vision at Stamford Bridge.
Liverpool were also thought to be keen on the Ecuadorian youngster, but Chelsea once again look to have moved with impressive efficiency. It mirrors their recent captures of Estevao Willian, Kendry Paez, Aaron Anselmino and numerous other rising stars.
It may be several years before Ordonez features for Chelsea’s senior side, but the club clearly rate him highly—otherwise he likely would have been sent first to their sister club Strasbourg, as has been the case with other developing prospects.
