Tottenham set to hand Micky van de Ven a lucrative new contract worth around £140,000 per week.

Tottenham Hotspur are considering offering Micky van de Ven a new contract as a reward for his outstanding recent form.

The Dutch defender has become Spurs’ top scorer after grabbing a brace in the 3–0 win over Everton and following it up with a spectacular long-range strike against Copenhagen in the Champions League. His performances have quickly made him a fan favourite, with supporters eager for him to remain at the club for years to come.

Reports have linked Real Madrid with a move for the centre-back next summer, continuing their interest in Spurs’ key players after previously eyeing Cristian Romero.

Speaking to Tottenham News, club analyst John Wenham suggested that Spurs may respond by improving van de Ven’s current deal to secure his long-term future. Although his contract already runs to 2029, Wenham believes the defender’s wages — estimated at around £60–70k a week since joining from Wolfsburg — no longer reflect his value. He expects Spurs to significantly increase his salary, potentially doubling it.

Van de Ven’s level this season has been exceptional. Along with scoring six goals in all competitions, he has been dominant defensively, averaging 3.7 recoveries and 3.4 clearances per match in the Premier League, according to Sofascore. His all-round impact has established him as one of the most complete defenders in world football.
