Thomas Frank has effectively signalled his approval for Tottenham’s £70m pursuit as they compete with Liverpool
Thomas Frank has previously made his admiration for Antoine Semenyo clear, as speculation grows over Tottenham’s interest in the Bournemouth standout.
The 25-year-old forward is one of the Premier League’s most sought-after talents and is being tracked by several major clubs. According to Sky Sports, Spurs, Liverpool, Manchester City and Manchester United are all monitoring him. Tottenham even made an enquiry in June, but Bournemouth firmly rejected it, insisting they weren’t willing to sell unless an offer of around £70 million arrived.
Spurs ultimately invested that money elsewhere, but could revisit their interest in the Ghanaian attacker ahead of the January window. The left wing is a position Thomas Frank is keen to strengthen, and the Dane made it clear a year ago—while preparing Brentford to face Bournemouth—that he rates Semenyo extremely highly, hinting he’d approve of Tottenham making a move.
At the time, Frank called Semenyo Bournemouth’s main danger man, saying:
“Semenyo can play anywhere he wants. He’s a fantastic player. I think he’s been their best individual performer this season. He’s definitely someone we need to keep an eye on and try to shut down.”
His assessment proved accurate as Semenyo finished the campaign with 13 goals and 7 assists in 42 games. His excellent form has continued this season, producing six goals and three assists in just 11 league matches.
Since joining from Bristol City in January 2023, Semenyo has become one of the league’s most reliable and threatening forwards, meaning Tottenham would need to pay a significant fee to secure him. Semenyo is believed to be content on the south coast and has not pushed for a move—reports claiming otherwise have reportedly frustrated him.
Arsenal and Manchester United also showed interest in the summer but pursued other targets, signing Eberechi Eze and Bryan Mbeumo instead.
In July, Semenyo committed his future to Bournemouth by signing a new five-year contract, putting the club under no obligation to sell their star attacker anytime soon.
