Roma are eyeing a loan move for Mathys Tel in the upcoming winter window.
The young forward scored in Tottenham’s 2-2 draw with Manchester United just before the November international break, coming off the bench late in the game. However, the Frenchman has endured a tough campaign, notably being left out of Thomas Frank’s Champions League squad for the group stage.
Because of this, Tel may look to spend the remainder of the season elsewhere to continue his development.
Mathys Tel linked with January exit
According to Gazzetta dello Sport (15 November), Roma want to bring Tel in on loan until the end of the season. They view him as a flexible attacking option capable of playing on the left flank or through the middle.
Reports suggest Tel is open to leaving North London due to limited playing time under Frank. Roma are searching for cheaper alternatives to their top target, Joshua Zirkzee, and Tel fits that profile. He is also considered a more budget-friendly option compared to other names on their list, such as Said El Mala and Yuri Alberto.
However, with both Dominic Solanke and Randal Kolo Muani currently out injured, Frank’s treatment of Tel in the coming weeks will be crucial. Letting Tel leave on loan could prove costly for Spurs, especially with the squad already dealing with multiple injury setbacks, the latest being Lucas Bergvall.
