According to former Tottenham and Manchester United senior scout Mick Brown, who remains well-connected in football, Harry Kane is currently unlikely to leave Bayern Munich despite ongoing speculation. Brown told Football Insider that Barcelona have shown strong interest in the England striker as they look to replace Robert Lewandowski, who appears set to depart.
Football Insider reported on 10 October that Kane could extend his contract with Bayern and is ready to commit his long-term future to the club. Any new agreement would likely remove the £56million release clause that has sparked outside interest. Kane has scored 108 goals in 113 appearances for the German champions.
Following England’s 2-0 win over Albania, where he delivered another composed performance, Kane became the all-time leading international scorer, surpassing Pele with 78 goals. Brown, who spent over a decade in top-level recruitment at Manchester United, stated that every major club would want Kane, but the striker is content at Bayern. He praised Kane’s professionalism and consistent impact for both club and country.
Brown added that Kane enjoys life in Munich and that his record there is exceptional, second only to someone like Erling Haaland. He believes rumours linking Kane with Barcelona or a return to Tottenham are unlikely, as Kane seems settled and has no reason to leave if he continues performing at his current level.
Tottenham’s hopes of re-signing Kane have taken a setback, as he was a key name on their list of striker targets. Brown previously noted on 12 November that Tottenham intend to bring in a new forward due to ongoing injury issues for Randal Kolo Muani and Dominic Solanke. These problems have added to Thomas Frank’s frustrations, with several important players already spending extended periods on the sidelines.
Tottenham also have “serious concerns” after Kolo Muani suffered a major injury against Manchester United. He is expected to miss around eight weeks, but the absence could extend to several months if surgery is required.
