Recent reports have suggested that the 25-year-old Germany international would be open to a move to Anfield, with some even claiming Real Madrid privately fear he may favour Liverpool over them. That scenario would force Dortmund to consider a lower offer than usual for a centre-back of his quality and age.
Given his exceptional underlying metrics – which rank him among Europe’s top-performing defenders across several key categories – Liverpool would be foolish not to make a serious push for his signature. Even if Ibrahima Konaté renews his deal, Schlotterbeck fits the ideal age profile and could be a long-term successor to Virgil van Dijk, whose current contract ends in 2027.
If the German defender remains open to the move and Dortmund are willing to negotiate at a reduced price, the Reds may never get a better opportunity to secure a top-tier centre-back for the future.
