Tottenham handed concerning Pape Sarr injury news before the North London derby
Senegalese media have shared new information on the condition of Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr after he was forced off with an injury over the weekend.
Spurs are already dealing with a lengthy injury list, and the last thing they need is another setback before their trip to the Emirates on Sunday. Unfortunately, that now looks possible after Sarr had to be withdrawn during Senegal’s 2–0 defeat to Brazil on Saturday.
Although Senegal manager Pape Thiaw initially played down the issue—saying Sarr was removed only as a precaution—a further update has now emerged.
Sarr returns to Tottenham for treatment
According to Wiw Sport, Sarr will miss Senegal’s friendly against Kenya this afternoon due to the knock he picked up at the weekend. The 23-year-old has not travelled with the squad to Turkey and has instead gone back to London to continue his recovery with Tottenham’s medical team.
The outlet quotes Thiaw explaining: “We left him in London. He took a knock against Brazil, and we knew it would be tough for him to recover in just two days. Since we were already in his home city, we preferred to leave him with his club so he could get treatment there.”
Sarr now doubtful for the North London Derby
Thomas Frank is known to favour the Rodrigo Bentancur–Joao Palhinha midfield partnership, particularly in tough away fixtures. With Arsenal up next, it is likely he will use that pairing again.
Sarr’s injury, however, may remove the option of playing him as a number ten — a role Frank has occasionally used him in this season. The 23-year-old would also have been a valuable substitute, so his availability could be important for Spurs going into Sunday’s derby.
