Tottenham Hotspur may finally secure long-term target Takefusa Kubo in January, with Real Sociedad reportedly willing to sell the attacker. Manager Thomas Frank is looking to strengthen his attacking options, as Tottenham’s forward play has been underwhelming at times this season.

Kubo has been linked with a move to the Premier League for several years, and it could finally materialize in the upcoming transfer window. After 11 Premier League games, Tottenham have scored 19 goals but have only attempted four through balls all season, the fewest in the league, compared to Arsenal’s 40. To make their attack more dynamic, Tottenham may turn to Kubo.

Fichajes reports that Real Sociedad are prepared to sell Kubo to improve their financial situation. While Sociedad must pay part of any transfer fee to Real Madrid, Kubo’s €60 million release clause ensures they would still receive a significant amount, making them open to a sale. The fee is reportedly manageable for Tottenham, who had already shown interest in the Japanese international during the summer.

Kubo would bring versatility to Tottenham’s attack, capable of playing on both wings or behind the striker. Transfermarkt values him at €30 million, so acquiring him below his release clause would represent excellent business.

Tottenham will return to Premier League action this weekend in the north London derby against Arsenal.
