La Liga side willing to offload forward to Tottenham, but only if one condition is met
Over the past few weeks, Spurs Web has reported that Tottenham are prioritising the signing of a wide-forward in the January transfer window. Recently, one versatile winger, who can also play as a number ten, has been strongly linked with a move to N17.
Multiple outlets have reported that Tottenham are targeting Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo, who has a £52m release clause in his contract.
Spurs have received a boost in their pursuit of the Japan international, with COPE Gipuzkoa reporting that Kubo could be available for sale in January. Real Sociedad may welcome Tottenham’s interest as they look to balance their finances, and the former Real Madrid player is considered one of their most saleable assets.
Mundo Deportivo Gipuzkoa (via Sport Witness) adds that Sociedad will only allow Kubo to leave if his £52m release clause is not activated, due to a 50% sell-on clause owed to Real Madrid.
Tottenham are not the only club interested in the 24-year-old, with Liverpool and Aston Villa also reportedly tracking him. Journalist Pete O’Rourke notes that Kubo would be keen to join Spurs if the chance arises in January, though the £52m valuation could pose a challenge, particularly with Tottenham also linked with Antoine Semenyo for £65m.
