Tottenham have been urged to move on from Mathys Tel, with reports claiming the striker is unhappy with the way Thomas Frank has handled him.

Roma are pushing to bring in the former Bayern Munich prospect on loan for the rest of the season, attracted by his versatility and suitability for their squad.

Tel is reportedly still frustrated by his limited game time this season and is open to a move if the opportunity arises.

His future in North London has been uncertain since he was left out of Tottenham’s Champions League squad at the start of the campaign. That omission sparked talk of a possible rift with Thomas Frank, though Tel has since featured more frequently in the Premier League.

He came off the bench to score in the recent 2-2 draw with Manchester United before the international break, but that may not be enough to secure long-term trust from Frank.

Tel’s situation has resurfaced amid renewed interest from Roma ahead of the winter window, with the Serie A side eager to secure him on loan.

Despite Randal Kolo Muani’s injury potentially opening a spot for Tel in the Champions League squad, there has been no indication that Tottenham intend to take that step.

Former Spurs scout Bryan King, speaking to Tottenham News, said that keeping an unhappy player would be counterproductive and argued that Tottenham should allow Roma to take him if he is not going to be added to the European squad.

Dominic Solanke’s impending return from injury could further determine Tel’s fate. The 20-year-old has already fallen down the pecking order, starting only three league matches this season, and Solanke’s comeback is expected to push him even lower.

With Solanke regarded as Tottenham’s most dangerous striker, his return is seen as a major boost. Once he is fully fit, Tel looks increasingly likely to move on.
