Liverpool and Nottingham Forest fans were left outraged after controversial VAR decisions in the first half of their Premier League clash at Anfield.

In the 33rd minute, Forest’s Murillo scored from a corner, sparking complaints from Liverpool fans who argued that Dan Ndoye blocked Alisson’s view, similar to Virgil van Dijk’s disallowed goal against Manchester City. The goal, however, stood.

Minutes later, Forest thought they had scored again through Igor Jesus, but referee Andy Madley ruled it out for handball after VAR review, despite the ball appearing to hit Jesus’ chest. The score remained 1-0.

The Premier League later explained the rulings: Murillo’s goal stood because Ndoye did not obstruct Alisson’s vision or action, while Jesus’ goal was correctly disallowed as the ball touched his hand.

Forest added a second goal in the 46th minute, with Nicolo Savona finishing Neco Williams’ cutback, putting the match further out of Liverpool’s reach.
