Liverpool urged to make a decision on Arne Slot’s future after the defeat to Forest

Liverpool have already been told what decision they must make regarding Arne Slot’s future following the disastrous defeat to Nottingham Forest.
The Premier League returned on Saturday after a break for the final round of 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Following Chelsea’s contentious 2-0 victory over Burnley in the early kickoff, champions Liverpool had the chance to ease the pressure of their dreadful recent form with a home match against Nottingham Forest.
Instead, the situation spiralled further, as the Reds fell to a shocking 3-0 defeat to Sean Dyche’s side, intensifying the scrutiny on Slot’s position.
The loss leaves Liverpool 11th in the table, closer to the relegation zone than to last season’s title rivals Arsenal, who currently sit top.
Across all competitions, Liverpool have now lost eight of their last 11 matches, including five of their last six league games, prompting many supporters to call for Slot’s dismissal.
Despite the growing pressure, Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp insists Slot’s title-winning achievement last season should buy him time.
“They need to be patient — Arne Slot deserves that after last year,” Redknapp said.
He also suggested that the emotional impact of Diogo Jota’s tragic death and the challenge of bedding in new summer signings may be contributing to Liverpool’s struggles.
Even so, Slot didn’t shy away from responsibility after the match, taking the blame off his players.
“If things go well or things go bad, it’s always my responsibility,” he said.
“We weren’t able to create enough. I tried to adjust a few things that didn’t work. We couldn’t score. We’re in a very bad spell — it’s that simple. But we play Champions League in a few days.”
Slot added: “We have to keep our heads up, work extremely hard, and try to turn this around. It’s been difficult so far. We have quality players, and it’s my job to get the best out of them. I’m not doing that at the moment — that’s why I say it’s my responsibility.”
