Liverpool Face Major Payout If They Choose to Dismiss Arne Slot Following Forest Loss

Liverpool could face a hefty bill if they decide to dismiss Arne Slot during their current poor run of form.

The Premier League champions have managed only one win from their last seven league matches and have dropped to 11th place after a 3-0 loss to Nottingham Forest at Anfield. Murillo, Nicolo Savona and Morgan Gibbs-White scored for Sean Dyche’s side, securing Forest’s second straight victory at Liverpool’s ground.

Despite investing £450 million in new players, Liverpool have been beaten in eight of their last 11 games, increasing the scrutiny on Slot—despite him leading the club to a historic 20th league title earlier this year.

How much would Liverpool owe Slot?

Unless Slot chooses to resign, Liverpool would be obligated to pay him a sizeable compensation package. His contract runs until 2027 after signing a three-year deal when he left Feyenoord to succeed Jurgen Klopp in 2024. Slot earns around £6.6 million annually, plus significant performance bonuses.

If Liverpool were to dismiss him soon, it’s believed they would need to pay the 47-year-old over £10 million.

Liverpool are back in action on Wednesday against PSV in the Champions League, followed by a Premier League trip to West Ham.

Slot is viewed as one of the most pressured managers in world football, and he accepted blame for the team’s slump after the defeat to Forest. He admitted the team failed to create chances and that the tactical tweaks he attempted didn’t work.

Acknowledging the club’s “very bad spell,” Slot said they must keep their heads up, work hard and try to reverse the situation. He insisted the squad has quality—but it is his responsibility to get the best out of them, something he admits he is currently failing to do.
