Surprise Candidate Linked with Liverpool Job After PSV Loss

A surprising contender has reportedly entered the frame to replace Arne Slot as Liverpool manager.

TEAMtalk reports that former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest boss Ange Postecoglou is being considered should Liverpool decide to move on from Slot. Despite his poor spell at the City Ground this season, the Liverpool hierarchy reportedly “admire him massively” and believe he fits the club’s identity.

A source speaking on Slot’s situation said the coach is under pressure but still has room to work, noting that Liverpool’s owners avoid rash decisions and view this as the first year of a long-term rebuild following Jurgen Klopp’s departure. However, they added that a few more bad results could change the picture entirely.

Asked about his future after the PSV defeat, Slot insisted he feels secure and supported by the club’s leadership, acknowledging that questions arise naturally when results are poor but stressing his desire to turn things around.
