Mo Salah Criticised for ‘Disgraceful’ Moment During PSV Clash

Mohamed Salah has come under heavy criticism for what has been described as a “disgraceful” moment during Liverpool’s latest setback against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool were thrashed 4-1 at Anfield in Wednesday’s Champions League clash, their second European defeat of the season after losing to Galatasaray in September. Arne Slot’s side have now suffered three straight losses and conceded 10 goals in that run. With nine defeats in their last 12 games across all competitions, pressure on the manager continues to grow.

Former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann was among those who slammed the team, singling out Salah for harsh criticism. He urged Slot to consider dropping the Egyptian star and highlighted the incident that led to PSV’s second goal. Mauro Junior eased past Salah near the halfway line and advanced unchallenged for 30 yards before Guus Til scored.

Speaking on RTE Sport, Hamann said: “There comes a point where you have to drop players. Slot must decide whether he gets sacked with Salah or saves his job without him.” He went on: “What Salah did for that second goal was disgraceful. For a player of his level, it’s painful to watch him let someone run past without helping the team.”

Salah has scored just five goals this season after hitting 34 last year and appears far from his best. However, Steven Gerrard believes any Liverpool manager would still select him. On TNT Sports, he said: “They’re in a really tough moment, and whoever is in charge would still pick Mo Salah. Liverpool need their best players on the pitch to restore stability. They’re conceding too many, they’re open in transition, and look very vulnerable when possession is lost.”

Salah will aim to respond when Liverpool return to Premier League action against West Ham United on Sunday.
