Mo Salah Branded “Disgraceful” After His Actions in the Match Against PSV

Liverpool endured a heavy 4-1 defeat to PSV at Anfield in the Champions League on Wednesday, marking their second European loss of the campaign after falling to Galatasaray in September. Arne Slot’s side have now suffered three straight defeats, conceding 10 goals, and the pressure on the manager continues to grow amid a dire run of nine losses in 12 matches across all competitions.

The performance drew strong criticism from supporters and pundits, including former Liverpool midfielder Dietmar Hamann, who was particularly scathing of Mohamed Salah. Hamann called for Slot to drop the Egyptian forward and condemned his involvement in PSV’s second goal. Mauro Junior drifted past Salah deep inside his own half, with the Liverpool star offering no resistance as the PSV player advanced 30 yards before Guus Til eventually scored.

Speaking on RTE Sport, Hamann said: “There comes a point when you have to drop players. Slot had a decision to make — does he get the sack with Salah or keep his job without him?” He added: “What Salah did for that second PSV goal… Slot had one chance to take him off straight away. It was disgraceful for a player of his calibre. It pains me to say it, but he let the player go past him without doing anything to help the team.”

Salah has managed just five goals this season after scoring 34 last term, and his form has noticeably dipped. However, Steven Gerrard believes the forward remains undroppable. Speaking on TNT Sports, he said: “They’re in a really difficult moment. Whoever is managing Liverpool right now would pick Mo Salah. Liverpool need all their top players on the pitch to try to find some stability. They’re conceding too many goals, they’re wide open in transition, and they look vulnerable as soon as possession is lost.”

Salah will aim to respond when Liverpool continue their struggling Premier League campaign against West Ham United on Sunday.
