Paul Merson has weighed in on Tottenham Hotspur’s ongoing struggles and shared his prediction ahead of their Premier League clash with Fulham.
Despite the Opta Supercomputer backing Spurs to win, fans are far from convinced. Their doubts stem from Tottenham’s erratic form and disjointed performances since returning from the international break.
Tottenham’s Recent Issues
Spurs resumed league action with a miserable display in the North London derby, falling 3–0 to Arsenal. The defeat was worrying not just in scoreline but in attitude—Tottenham looked flat, disorganized, and nowhere near the level the fixture demands.
They showed brief signs of life in the Champions League against PSG, scoring three goals and creating chances, but the positives vanished as more defensive errors led to a 5–3 loss. Supporters were left frustrated once again.
Merson Predicts 1–1 vs Fulham
Much has been said about Thomas Frank’s system, but Merson argues the bigger issue is Tottenham’s inability to get results no matter how they set up. Sitting deep didn’t work against Arsenal, and playing more expansively against PSG only exposed their defensive weaknesses.
Speaking to Sportskeeda, Merson described Spurs as “impossible to predict.” He criticised their derby performance as embarrassing, saying Arsenal had it far too easy. He believes Tottenham’s home form and fragile mentality in must-win games will hold them back again, and therefore predicts a 1–1 draw.
