Vicario responds with statement after blunder in Tottenham’s defeat to Fulham.

Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario has accepted full responsibility for the error he made during Spurs’ defeat to Fulham. Thomas Frank’s side were beaten 2-1 at home on Saturday evening, falling two goals behind within the opening six minutes.

Fulham struck first through Kenny Tete in the fourth minute, and things quickly worsened for Spurs when Vicario rushed out of his box to clear a long ball. His attempted clearance went straight to a Fulham player, who set up Harry Wilson. With Vicario stranded, Wilson curled the ball into the net from the right side to double the visitors’ lead.

The mistake prompted frustration inside the stadium, with some supporters booing Vicario during his next few touches.

Vicario later addressed the incident on Instagram, saying:
“I take full responsibility for the second goal we conceded. Moments like this hurt, especially when results aren’t going our way. Now more than ever, it’s time to fight even harder and give everything for this club. COYS.”
Former Spurs midfielder Pierre-Emile Højbjerg responded with a white heart emoji.

Speaking to Sky Sports about the crowd’s reaction, Vicario said:
“It’s part of football. I’m a grown man, more experienced now. We can’t let what happens in the stands affect us. Fans have the right to react how they want, but we need to stay calm and stick to our game plan. We’re missing a bit of composure to turn results around. Today was a bad defeat and hard to take.”

Manager Thomas Frank offered a stronger view on the boos:
“When you’re in a bad run, everything seems to go against you — the first goal is a deflection, the second comes from Vic’s mistake. But I didn’t like hearing our fans boo him straight afterwards or during the game. They can’t call themselves true Tottenham fans if they do that. You support your players while the match is going on. Boo after the final whistle if you want, but not during. That’s unacceptable.”
