Home fans booed at full-time, and tensions spilled over among the players as well. Stadium footage appeared to show Pedro Porro yelling at Lucas Bergvall while the youngster was circling the pitch to applaud the supporters who stayed behind.
Porro seemed ready to head straight for the tunnel, but Bergvall believed the team should acknowledge the fans. The Spaniard lingered near the centre-circle, repeatedly calling Bergvall’s name before moving toward him—only for Pape Matar Sarr to gently step in and guide him back. Porro then left the pitch without clapping the crowd, walking directly down the tunnel. The scene comes shortly after Micky van de Ven and Djed Spence ignored Thomas Frank and stormed off following the loss to Chelsea.
Asked about the Porro–Bergvall incident, Frank said he hadn’t seen it but stressed that the squad must stay composed during difficult moments.
Fans Criticise Porro Over Clash With Bergvall
The footage quickly went viral, and many Spurs fans sided with Bergvall. One supporter accused Porro of “bullying” his teammate, while another wrote: “If this is true, it’s unacceptable.” Some even suggested selling Porro, criticising both his performances and his attitude.
Others argued the situation highlights deeper issues, claiming Frank is losing control of the dressing room. “Frank is making the dressing room implode,” one fan said. Another added: “That dressing room is TENSE.”
Porro Responds, Citing ‘Frustration’
Porro later addressed his outburst on Instagram, saying he was reacting to fans disrespecting a teammate:
“Football is emotions. There can always be mistakes, but I will not tolerate hearing disrespect toward my teammates—hence my frustration.”
He added:
“We will rise again. Six months ago things were bad, but it’s about how it ends. To the true Spurs fans, I love you.”
Porro, now in his third season at Tottenham after joining from Sporting CP in 2023, helped the club win last season’s Europa League.
