Tottenham’s optimism may be admirable, but their problems are impossible to ignore. Defensive mistakes set the tone from the outset. Kevin Danso’s soft header immediately put Spurs under pressure, and Samuel Chukwueze’s misplaced pass skipped past Lucas Bergvall, allowing Tete’s shot to deflect beyond Guglielmo Vicario. Just minutes later, Vicario worsened the disaster by mishandling a clearance from Joachim Andersen’s long pass, enabling Josh King to tee up Wilson for a precise 40-yard strike into an open net. Tottenham’s tactical shape was disjointed. With Richarlison drifting centrally beside Randal Kolo Muani after their midweek match against PSG, Spurs lacked a genuine left-wing outlet, creating an unbalanced side. Chukwueze hit the post with a curling effort, and ironic applause followed when Vicario finally cleared the ball cleanly. Kudus briefly lifted Spurs in the 59th minute with a fierce half-volley, and Bergvall nearly equalised with a header that was cleared off the line.
