Tottenham’s hierarchy has reached a verdict on Thomas Frank’s future following a major development that has intensified the situation
Tottenham’s top executives have settled on Thomas Frank’s future after a key development that has intensified scrutiny around the club.
Former Tottenham and Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown, who remains closely connected within football, told Football Insider that the revamped Spurs board intends to stand by Frank despite growing unrest. This follows Football Insider’s earlier report on 13 November confirming that the manager still had full backing from the hierarchy, even with early doubts emerging.
Frank’s team fell 2-1 to Fulham in their latest outing, leaving them with just one win in their last seven matches across all competitions. Their poor home form has been a major issue. Supporters have increasingly demanded Frank’s dismissal, but those calls may not influence the club’s stance.
Brown explained that Spurs fans turning against Frank is usually a worrying sign for any manager at the club. Still, he stressed that the board currently has no intention of removing him.
“It was another hugely disappointing result for Tottenham,” he told Football Insider. “Credit to Fulham, they did their job well, but it had that familiar Tottenham feel, which is unfortunate.
“In the past, when fans turned against the board, the manager would often pay the price. But with changes at the top, the new board wants to show stability and stand behind the manager.
“Supporters are frustrated because results aren’t matching expectations. They demand a certain style and level of performance, and at the moment neither is being delivered. That’s the issue. But from the club’s point of view, I don’t believe they’re planning to sack him, and they hope he can turn things around quickly.”
Frank is also pushing for backing in the January transfer window. Brown revealed that the manager wants significant changes to reshape the squad and improve their form, though it remains uncertain whether the board will meet his demands.
Despite being financially secure, Spurs’ willingness to spend has been questioned after a difficult summer window. Football Insider reported on 25 November that the club aims to bring in a striker and a winger as priority additions to strengthen the starting XI.
Frank is prepared to push for further reinforcements to adapt the team to his approach, but even with boardroom support, the extent of January spending might be limited.
