Triple H Breaks Silence on Major Backstage Problems That Unfolded Ahead of the WWE Survivor Series Main Event
WWE Chief Content Officer and former in-ring star Triple H has revealed that the Survivor Series: WarGames main event sparked intense discussions backstage, particularly over the order in which the high-profile wrestlers would make their entrances.
The San Diego show brought together some of the industry’s biggest names, creating a tense atmosphere behind the scenes as each performer aimed to secure a prime spotlight.
Speaking in his post-show media scrum, Triple H (Paul Levesque) admitted that there were political battles involved in finalising how the match would unfold.

“This was one of the most star-stacked WarGames matches I can remember,” he said. “The level of star power was unbelievable.
“Everyone stepped up. When you have Brock Lesnar—who isn’t exactly known for being a team player—alongside Roman Reigns, Cody Rhodes, Jey Uso, CM Punk, Logan Paul… these are people who operate on another level, and that competitive fire really came through.
“The lobbying, the politics, the tension backstage tonight—you could cut it with a knife. It was incredible. And you saw the results in their performances.”

The match featured Roman Reigns, CM Punk, Cody Rhodes, and The Usos (Jimmy and Jey) going up against The Vision (Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed), Brock Lesnar, Drew McIntyre, and Logan Paul. The latter team ultimately picked up the win.
With megastars like Reigns and Lesnar naturally wanting top billing—and a mainstream draw like Logan Paul now a consistent presence—competition for prominence was fierce.
Bron Breakker sealed the victory with a Spear on CM Punk, but the shock factor continued moments later when a masked wrestler appeared, hitting a Curb Stomp on Punk before the pinfall. The mystery attacker didn’t unmask to the crowd’s frustration, though it was later revealed to be Austin Theory, who would’ve been part of the match if Jacob Fatu hadn’t been injured.
