In a Tuesday report for The Athletic, Gregg Evans suggested a January switch for Guehi is improbable, recommending that the defender may be better off completing the final seven months of his contract at Selhurst Park.
Evans explained: “Liverpool would still like to sign Guehi, but the likelihood of that happening in January is slim. With his contract expiring in the summer, negotiating a mid-season move would be complicated. How much is he valued at now, and how much would Liverpool pay to convince Palace to sell? And what’s in it for Guehi to leave early?
“As a free agent in the summer, he could negotiate a more lucrative contract, and staying at Palace while playing regularly could improve his chances of featuring in the World Cup this summer.”
