Former Tottenham Hotspur manager Harry Redknapp has defended current head coach Thomas Frank, insisting the Danish coach deserves more time to improve the team’s fortunes following a difficult run of results. Spurs failed to record a league victory in November, dropping from third to 12th in the table after a series of disappointing performances. Losses to North London rivals Arsenal and recent defeat against Fulham have intensified pressure from supporters, raising questions over whether Frank can successfully lead the team forward.

Redknapp emphasized the need for patience, telling talkSPORT: “He needs time. Tottenham can’t keep chopping managers every time they lose a few games. Last year, apart from winning the European competition, it was a shocking season. He hasn’t got a magic wand, it takes time. They’re going to have ups and downs, but right now, there are more downs than ups. Certainly, at home, it’s been disappointing. You need to give Thomas Frank time for sure.”

Frank joined Tottenham in the summer following seven impressive years at Brentford, where he led the club to the Premier League for the first time in 74 years, maintained top-flight stability amid high-profile departures, and guided the Bees to their highest-ever points tally and league position. However, Tottenham’s history under chairman Daniel Levy has shown little patience for managers, with the club previously parting ways with Redknapp, Mauricio Pochettino, Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte, and Ange Postecoglou after varying levels of success.

Despite the current struggles, Frank’s record in English football suggests he deserves time to turn the club around. Last season, he inherited a Spurs team that finished 17th, which suffered from injuries and defensive frailties, conceding 68 goals and earning just 38 points. At Brentford, he demonstrated his ability to manage an entertaining, high-scoring team, while also operating effectively in the transfer market.

Frank is still in the process of shaping Tottenham’s squad and implementing a more pragmatic, defensively cautious style of play, building on the foundations laid during Postecoglou’s first season. With few viable alternatives available, Redknapp believes giving Frank time remains the most sensible approach.
