Son Heung-min’s Spurs comeback confirmed as club release statement and squad responds
Son Heung-min will get the chance to say a final goodbye to Tottenham Hotspur supporters when the club hosts Slavia Praha in the Champions League. The South Korean icon, who spent a memorable decade in north London before his summer switch to Los Angeles FC for a fee of around £20m, is set to return to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Tuesday, December 9, to bid farewell to the fans.
A statement released on Spurs’ official website confirmed: “Heung-Min Son will be back at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for the first time since his departure, offering a final goodbye to our home crowd during our UEFA Champions League match against SK Slavia Praha on Tuesday 9 December. Our legendary former captain, who lifted the Europa League trophy in Bilbao in May, revealed his exit in August during our summer tour in South Korea, where he played his last match for the club in a packed Seoul World Cup Stadium.”
After moving to LAFC, Son impressed with nine goals in ten MLS appearances before their Play-Off elimination to the Vancouver Whitecaps on November 23. He has chosen the Slavia Praha fixture as the perfect moment to return and personally thank the Spurs faithful.
Son will step onto the pitch before the teams emerge on Tuesday and will be given a moment to address the fans who adored him throughout his Spurs career. More information on the schedule will be shared before the match.
Meanwhile, work has begun on a new mural dedicated to Son on Tottenham High Road. Created by Murwalls—the same team behind the famous Ledley King and Harry Kane artworks—the design was selected by Son himself and is expected to be completed ahead of the Champions League showdown. 🎨💙
