Thomas Frank explains the key thing about Archie Gray’s performance that stood out to him in Tottenham’s match against Brentford.

Thomas Frank will be satisfied with how his Tottenham Hotspur side responded, ending a five-match winless run with a 2-0 victory over former club Brentford. It was a strong, all-round performance, with every player—from Guglielmo Vicario to Randal Kolo Muani—putting in solid work for Spurs.
Archie Gray also impressed in front of the home crowd, and Frank was quick to praise the young midfielder. Speaking after the match, he highlighted the qualities that stood out in Gray’s display.
Frank noted that it was Gray’s awareness, positioning, and commitment to his defensive duties that really caught his attention.
He told Football.London:
“I think he did well. I must say there were a few others who shined maybe more. For example, when Djed Spence was bombarding forward, he was very disciplined, at a young age, to be there on that side, taking care of that left defending position.
“I think he handled all the tricky situations with the ball, got out of it. He was always a good support. He covered ground very well. So, I think it was a very solid performance.”
As Gray continues to push for more involvement this season, Thomas Frank will need to strike the right midfield balance to give the teenager opportunities to make an impact. Gray is particularly suited to matches where Tottenham are expected to dominate possession, using his intelligence and control from deeper areas to keep the team’s play moving.
