Tottenham Hotspur earned a 2-0 win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium thanks to first-half goals from Richarlison and Xavi Simons.
Frank’s team had fought back for a 2-2 draw against Newcastle United at St James’ Park earlier in the week. Although the comeback showed character, the overall display again fell short, leaving the Spurs boss under heavy pressure heading into the meeting with his old side, Brentford.
With no home league win since the opening-day success over Burnley, the atmosphere at the stadium had become tense. The squad was booed off after the loss to Fulham, meaning they needed a strong response against Brentford.
The players delivered exactly that—two well-taken goals from Richarlison and Simons, and they could easily have added more. Alongside their attacking threat, Spurs were solid at the back and comfortably handled Brentford’s counter-attacks.

Tottenham produced an excellent display from start to finish, securing three much-needed points after a challenging period for the Danish manager.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Frank said:
“I’m happy with so many things. I think it was a very good performance overall — a fairly complete performance. Offensively we looked really dangerous, much more dynamic, creating good chances and good moments.
“I really liked that. Defensively, we limited them to four shots all game. It was a really strong display. The fans were fantastic from the start and the players fed off that energy. That unity between everyone — I really loved that. It was a great win.”
A complete Spurs performance
From the opening whistle, Spurs showed urgency and determination to put things right in front of their supporters. They competed strongly, moved the ball well, controlled the rhythm of the game and matched Brentford’s physicality.
In attack, they caused constant problems for the Bees, and defensively, the back line handled Igor Thiago, Kevin Schade and Dango Ouattara impressively, securing a much-needed clean sheet.
Overall, it was a complete performance from Tottenham — one that gave the fans plenty to celebrate.
