Dominik Szoboszlai didn’t hold back in his post-match interview on Sky Sports, saying the team must “take responsibility” after once again giving up a comfortable lead.

The Hungarian admitted he had “no idea what happened after 2-0,” expressing his frustration at how Liverpool allowed Leeds to grow into the game following the penalty that brought them back into it.
He stressed that “everyone has to take responsibility” and that the squad must “find solutions” and show stronger mentality in key moments.

Despite being central to Liverpool’s attacking play — including a standout long pass to Cody Gakpo — Szoboszlai’s strong individual performance wasn’t enough to prevent yet another collapse.

BBC Sport’s numbers showed Leeds produced 1.51 xG to Liverpool’s 1.81, and while Liverpool had 27 touches in the Leeds box, they still allowed five shots on target and too much space in crucial phases.

This continues a trend of strong starts followed by a loss of control.

Szoboszlai noted that “what is in the dressing room stays in the dressing room,” but his message was unmistakable: the team’s mentality and organisation must improve fast, especially with Inter Milan up next in the Champions League.

If Liverpool want to regain the consistency that made them champions last season, they can no longer overlook these warning signs.
