Tottenham are reportedly prepared to offer a £26m England international a central role in their project as they look to strengthen their attack over the coming transfer windows.

The club are not only planning for January but are also targeting a major signing for next summer. Reports from El Nacional last month indicated that Spurs held a discreet meeting with Marcus Rashford’s representatives to discuss a potential move to North London at the end of the season.

According to Fichajes, Tottenham have intensified their interest in Rashford, with the 28-year-old impressing during his loan spell at Barcelona. The report states that Thomas Frank’s side are ready to offer him an “immediate leading role” to encourage him to join.

Spurs aim to overhaul their forward line and view Rashford as the ideal fit due to his creativity, goal threat, and movement in attack.

However, Tottenham are not alone in the race, with other Premier League clubs also expected to pursue the England international at the end of the season.

Barcelona hold a €30m (£26m) option to sign Rashford permanently, but the club have yet to decide on his long-term future. Despite being pleased with his performances, their financial issues cast doubt over a permanent deal, leaving Rashford’s future uncertain.

The forward is also said to be unsure about staying at Camp Nou, as he wants guaranteed starts under Hansi Flick and a leadership role. With Barcelona prioritising reinforcements in other areas, a return to England is becoming increasingly likely for the Spurs target.
