Man United Linked With Shock Move for Mo Salah as Sensational Liverpool Exit Rumours Emerge
It’s still unclear whether Mohamed Salah will be brought back into the squad when Liverpool return to Premier League action against Brighton on Saturday.
Should he miss that game, it may turn out that he has already made his final appearance for the club, with the 33-year-old due to link up with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15. There has also been speculation about a possible January exit, with Saudi clubs again linked with him. Surprisingly, Manchester United have even been mentioned as a shock destination.
On Rio Ferdinand Presents, Ste Howson asked Ferdinand whether United should attempt to sign Salah. Ferdinand dismissed the idea of Salah joining their rivals, though he joked that he’d make a public bid.
Howson: “Do United sign him?”
Ferdinand: “No chance… Mo Salah doesn’t go to Man United.”
Howson: “Depends how p**sed off he is.”
Ferdinand: “I don’t think he’s got that Wazza (Rooney) streak in him.”
Howson: “But if you’re United, do you poke the bear?”
Ferdinand: “Yeah, I’d make an offer… and announce it publicly.”
Howson: “I’d do it just for the chaos it’d cause.”
Their exchange was clearly tongue-in-cheek. In reality, a move to Old Trafford is virtually impossible given Salah’s iconic status at Liverpool.
His profile also doesn’t naturally suit Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 setup.
Salah has netted an extraordinary 250 goals in 420 games for Liverpool, but this season has been more difficult, with only five goals in all competitions after scoring 34 last year.
