The moment felt right, as Son returned to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on a European night, a stage where he once thrived. He played a key role in Spurs’ famous 2018/19 Champions League run, scoring vital goals against Manchester City, and later helped secure the Europa League title last season — his first trophy after a decade of dedication to the club.

Although he appeared in one final pre-season friendly before leaving, he never had the chance to properly say farewell. His return to North London gave him that opportunity.
