Manchester United urged to swoop for Mo Salah as stunning Liverpool exit claim emerges
Manchester United have been urged to table an offer for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah amid the ongoing tension between the player and manager Arne Slot.
Salah was dropped for the Champions League clash with Inter Milan following his explosive interview, as Liverpool went on to win 1-0 without him. After the match, Jamie Carragher publicly apologised to Salah on CBS Sports, having branded him a “disgrace” on Monday Night Football earlier in the week.
Whether the Egyptian returns to the squad for Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Brighton remains uncertain. If he’s left out again, it could mark his final appearance for the club, with the 33-year-old due to join up with Egypt for the Africa Cup of Nations on December 15.
Speculation about a January exit continues to grow, with Saudi clubs long linked with a move.
However, in a shock twist, Manchester United have been tipped as a potential suitor. On Rio Ferdinand Presents, Ste Howson asked Ferdinand if United should try to sign the Liverpool icon. Ferdinand dismissed the likelihood of Salah joining their rivals but joked that he’d still make a “public offer” just to provoke a reaction.
Despite the tongue-in-cheek nature of their remarks, the idea of Salah moving to Old Trafford is seen as virtually impossible given his legendary status at Anfield and the fact he may not suit Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system.
Salah has scored a remarkable 250 goals in 420 games, but his form has dipped this season, with only five goals so far compared to the 34 he netted last term.
