Tottenham Hotspur have agreed a deal with CD Atlético Baleares to bring back former academy midfielder Armando Shashoua, as confirmed earlier today by Fabrizio Romano. The move sees Spurs reacquire a player who developed in their youth system before establishing himself in Spain, and the club believe his return will add depth, energy, and familiarity to their midfield group.

The signing aligns with Tottenham’s long-term strategy to strengthen both the senior and development squads, while rebuilding a strong homegrown core. Bringing back an academy product who already understands the club’s culture fits perfectly into that vision.

Shashoua originally joined Spurs’ academy in 2008 at just eight years old and quickly became known for his sharp technical ability, clever movement, and composure in possession. Though he trained with the first team, he never made a senior appearance and was loaned to Atlético Baleares in 2020, a spell that proved pivotal. After four appearances, the Spanish side signed him permanently.

Between 2020 and 2022, Shashoua enjoyed the best period of his career, making 43 appearances and scoring four goals for Baleares. His intelligence and work rate earned him a key role and drew interest from other Spanish clubs. He later joined Ibiza in 2022, featuring 10 times, before spending early 2023 on loan at Córdoba, where he added another 10 appearances.

He returned to Atlético Baleares in late 2023 and contributed 26 matches and one goal during the 2023–24 campaign. His steady development in Spain reportedly convinced Spurs to track him closely, viewing him as a low-risk signing with promising upside. As a homegrown player who already understands Tottenham’s environment, the club believe he can immediately boost training standards, provide rotation options, and offer tactical versatility.

Atlético Baleares have expressed pride in Shashoua’s return to a Premier League club, though they acknowledge his departure leaves a notable gap after three impactful spells.

Shashoua is described as delighted to have the chance to return to North London, completing a full-circle journey back to the club where his career began.

As Tottenham continue to shape their next chapter, bringing back a former academy standout reflects a renewed commitment to their identity and long-term values. One thing is certain: Spurs are re-signing a player who knows the club, embraces its culture, and is ready to fight for his future in North London.
