Arne Slot has offered clarity on several injury concerns following the midweek Champions League victory over Inter Milan, speaking during his pre-match press conference.
Slot confirmed that Federico Chiesa, who missed out through illness, is back with the group:
“Federico is not ill anymore. He trained yesterday and again today, so I expect he’ll be available for the squad tomorrow,” he said.
The outlook is less positive for Wataru Endo and Cody Gakpo, with Slot revealing:
“It’s going to be weeks. Cody has a muscle injury and Wata is dealing with an ankle issue.”
He also noted that Alexander Isak will be assessed after picking up a knock against Inter:
“Alex got a knock in the first half, so we’ll see how he’s recovered today – whether he can start tomorrow and whether I choose to start him with Hugo Ekitike again, or go a different route.”
Isak’s difficulties in Milan were already a talking point, with one analyst noting he “really struggled with the physicality and intensity tonight.”
With Chiesa returning, Gakpo still out, and Isak potentially limited, the attacking responsibility may fall heavily on Hugo Ekitike, particularly with Mohamed Salah not yet fully reintegrated.

A major question is whether Salah will feature before departing for AFCON.
Slot revealed he had yet to hold a proper discussion with the Egyptian:
“I will have a conversation with Mo this morning. The outcome of that conversation will determine how things look on Saturday.”
Supporters will be eager to see whether Liverpool’s No.11 is brought back into the squad or kept out for another game.
With Chiesa available again and Ekitike likely to lead the line, Slot’s decisions across the forward line will be vital as Liverpool aim to extend their unbeaten run and maintain momentum heading into the festive period.
