Mo Salah’s reaction while passing through Anfield’s mixed zone has quickly gone viral.
Mohamed Salah featured for Liverpool in their Premier League meeting with Brighton on Saturday, but it was his post-match moment away from the pitch that quickly grabbed attention.
The Egyptian produced a light-hearted yet pointed response as he declined an interview request while walking through the Anfield mixed zone after the final whistle.
Salah was again named among the substitutes for the fourth league game in a row as Liverpool hosted Fabian Hürzeler’s Brighton side. The 33-year-old had been left out of the squad for the midweek Champions League trip to Inter Milan, following his public criticism of the club amid a difficult start to the 2025–26 season.
After being benched against Leeds on December 6, Salah had suggested his relationship with head coach Arne Slot had broken down, speaking candidly to reporters at Elland Road.
A week on, Slot opted to include him in the squad to face Brighton. Asked before kick-off whether he was satisfied with how the situation had been handled, the Liverpool boss replied: “Yes, of course, otherwise I probably would have done it differently.”
Named on the bench alongside record signing Alexander Isak, Salah spent just 26 minutes watching on before being introduced in place of the injured Joe Gomez. As expected, he was greeted with loud applause from the Anfield crowd.
The forward went on to register a second-half assist for Hugo Ekitike, a contribution that saw him surpass Wayne Rooney’s record for the most goal involvements for a single club in Premier League history, moving on to 277.
After the match, journalists waited in the mixed zone in the hope of hearing from Salah — and they did, albeit briefly. Smiling as he passed through the media scrum, the winger politely waved off an interview request, quipping: “Two weeks in a row? No, no, no.”
The clip quickly sparked amusement online. One fan joked: “Press fella man-marking Salah,” while another wrote: “Fair play, this is hilarious.” Others added: “We’ve got our happy Mohamed Salah back,” and “He only stops in the mixed zone once a season, so that’s that.”
Saudi interest in Salah
Elsewhere, Saudi Pro League chief executive Omar Mugharbel revealed at this week’s World Football Summit that several Saudi clubs are interested in signing Salah.
According to The Telegraph, Al Hilal, Al Nassr, Al Ittihad, Al Ahli and Al Qadsiah are all prepared to explore a move. When asked in his December 6 interview about a possible January switch to Saudi Arabia, Salah replied: “I don’t want to answer that question because the club will take me in a different direction.”
