Mohamed Salah playfully needles reporters with a brief six-word remark in the mixed zone following Liverpool’s clash with Brighton.

Mohamed Salah declined the chance to speak to reporters again in the mixed zone after Liverpool’s 2-0 victory over Brighton.

The Egyptian forward was introduced early in the match, replacing the injured Joe Gomez just 26 minutes into the Premier League contest. From that point on, the No.11 produced a reminder of his importance to the Reds, setting up Hugo Ekitike to double the lead shortly after the hour mark.

Salah declines another media appearance

Journalist Dominic King asked Salah if he was up for another conversation with the press, following his eye-catching post-match remarks after the recent 3-3 draw with Leeds. This time, however, Salah chose to pass, responding with a smile to those in the mixed zone: “Two minutes in a row? No!”

With Liverpool seemingly starting to find momentum again—albeit cautiously—another headline-grabbing interview is likely the last thing Arne Slot and his squad need right now.

The bigger uncertainty is whether Salah will remain a Liverpool player once his AFCON commitments conclude.

Farewell signs or much ado about nothing?

Salah’s extended applause to the Anfield crowd at full-time inevitably sparked speculation. However, from our perspective, there is no clear indication that this was his final appearance in a Liverpool shirt.

There will undoubtedly be plenty for Salah and his representatives to consider during AFCON. Interest is unlikely to be in short supply should he seek a move when the January 2026 transfer window opens, with Saudi interest in particular potentially appealing to Liverpool, who may not have expected another chance to maximise his value.

That said, our stance at Empire of the Kop remains unchanged: we hope all sides can reach an agreement and that Salah’s time at Anfield continues for the foreseeable future.
