Slot concedes worry as Liverpool await clarity on Szoboszlai’s injury situation.

Speaking after the 2-0 win on lfc, Arne Slot reflected on a match that also saw Joe Gomez withdrawn, offering an initial assessment of the Hungarian midfielder’s condition.

Slot revealed the problem was related to Szoboszlai’s ankle and admitted the early signs were worrying.
“Dom, it was his ankle,” the head coach said. “From what I saw, it didn’t look good.”
However, Slot also pointed to Szoboszlai’s character as a source of hope.
“He has an incredible mentality, so we’ll keep our fingers crossed,” he added.
Before his substitution, Szoboszlai had again played a key role, even filling in at right-back after Gomez was forced off midway through the first half. “When a player comes off with a muscle injury like Joe, that’s usually not a good sign,” Slot explained, adding he would not expect Gomez to be in next week’s squad.
While Conor Bradley’s return from suspension and Jeremie Frimpong’s availability provide some cover, Slot also confirmed Liverpool will soon be without Mohamed Salah due to AFCON commitments. That reality only increases the importance of Szoboszlai’s fitness.
