Manchester City lead the race to sign Premier League forward
Manchester City are understood to be leading the chase for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo, with reports suggesting the reigning Premier League champions are willing to trigger the winger’s £65 million release clause.
The 25-year-old Ghana international has enjoyed an outstanding campaign, emerging as one of the league’s most eye-catching attacking talents. His pace, power, and effectiveness in the final third have attracted strong interest from several top clubs, including Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, ahead of the January transfer window.
Pep Guardiola is said to value Semenyo’s work rate and adaptability, believing he could fit seamlessly into City’s system by playing anywhere across the frontline or making a decisive impact from the bench.
City are reportedly prepared to act swiftly when the window opens, with an official bid potentially submitted early in January. Financially, the club would have no difficulty meeting the release clause, and negotiations over personal terms are not expected to be problematic, as Semenyo is open to testing himself at the highest level under Guardiola.
Liverpool are also tracking the Bournemouth attacker closely, particularly with uncertainty surrounding Mohamed Salah’s long-term future amid interest from Saudi Arabia. The Reds see Semenyo as a strong candidate to bolster their attack.
Tottenham Hotspur remain in the mix as well, with Ange Postecoglou keen to add more direct and dynamic options to his squad as Spurs target a top-four finish. An initial offer from North London is believed to be in preparation.
After a mixed debut season at Bournemouth, Semenyo has taken a major step forward this year. He has registered six goals and three assists in all competitions and ranks highly in the Premier League for successful dribbles and progressive carries.
Although Bournemouth are not actively looking to sell, a bid activating the release clause could force their hand. While Semenyo is thought to favour a move to Liverpool, Manchester City’s title challenge and elite pedigree could prove difficult to resist.
