Liverpool close in on January signing after agreeing personal terms
Antoine Semenyo’s rapid progress at Bournemouth has attracted significant attention, with several of the Premier League’s elite sides lining up a potential move.
A reliable source on X reports that both Liverpool and Manchester City have already reached agreements on personal terms with the Bournemouth forward, putting them in a strong position should negotiations progress to a formal transfer. Manchester United are also tracking developments but have so far restricted their involvement to preliminary enquiries.
Semenyo has been among Bournemouth’s standout performers this season, netting seven Premier League goals, including his most recent strike in Monday’s thrilling 4–4 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford.
Liverpool join growing list of suitors
Able to play across the frontline or centrally, the Ghana international has drawn praise for his tireless work rate, powerful running, and improving end product. Liverpool’s interest is thought to stem from long-term attacking plans, particularly with Mohamed Salah’s future at Anfield uncertain and new manager Arne Slot eager to strengthen his options. As a result, Semenyo has reportedly become a leading target ahead of the January transfer window.
Competition for his signature is expected to be fierce, with both Manchester City and Manchester United holding genuine interest and likely to step up their pursuit in the coming months.
Reds make early headway
Although agreeing personal terms would represent a significant step, Bournemouth are under no immediate obligation to sell. The south coast club value Semenyo highly and would prefer to retain him until the end of the season. His contract includes a £65m release clause, which, if activated by a top Premier League side, would force Andoni Iraola’s team to consider a sale.
Manchester United’s approach remains more reserved. While they have carried out background checks and exploratory talks, they have yet to push discussions further. With the club weighing up several attacking options and managing financial considerations, they appear content to keep their options open rather than move decisively at this stage.
