Thomas Frank faces another setback as Tottenham midfielder Pape Matar Sarr is set to miss up to seven games due to AFCON. Spurs are already dealing with a number of injury issues, making squad depth a major concern.

In defence, Destiny Udogie remains sidelined, while Radu Dragusin and Kota Takai are still recovering. Offensively, Dominic Solanke has been out longer than expected, and Dejan Kulusevski and James Maddison are still some way from returning.

Sarr will represent Senegal at AFCON and has left North London ahead of their opening fixture. If Senegal reach the final, he could miss seven matches, potentially returning after Tottenham’s January clash with Borussia Dortmund.

Since the November international break, Sarr has struggled for game time at Spurs, making only two starts in seven appearances and not featuring in the 3-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest last weekend. While Spurs will miss him, the squad will need to rely on other players as fixtures continue to pile up.
