Tottenham Hotspur were reduced to ten players in their Premier League clash with Liverpool after a decisive lapse from Xavi Simons.
Midway through the first half, the midfielder lunged in to regain possession but instead caught Liverpool skipper Virgil van Dijk with a raised-studs challenge from his left foot.
Van Dijk was clearly affected by the impact, and while the referee first showed a yellow card, VAR stepped in to recommend an on-field review.
Following a look at the pitchside monitor, the referee reversed the decision and issued a straight red card.

Konaté: “Success Will Come” Despite the uncertainty, Konaté remains optimistic. Speaking in a recent interview, the French centre-back emphasized that this phase is part of a bigger journey. According to him, Liverpool are still adapting — especially with new players settling into the squad. He believes that with time, chemistry will improve and trophies will follow. 🏆 He also pointed to last season’s success as proof that the team has what it takes to bounce back stronger. 🤝 A Call for Unity More than anything, Konaté stressed the importance of togetherness between the team and its supporters. He praised the Anfield faithful and urged everyone to stay united, insisting that better days are ahead if patience is maintained. ❤️ Interestingly, his comments come at a time when his own future at the club remains uncertain, with his contract situation yet to be resolved heading into the summer. 🔍 What Happens Next? Liverpool’s season is now entering a defining period. Results must improve, injuries need to clear, and stability must return — both on and off the pitch. But if Konaté’s words are anything to go by, belief inside the squad is still very much alive. And sometimes… that’s all it takes before everything turns around. 👀🔥
