Arne Slot was left unhappy by something he spotted late on during Liverpool’s victory over Tottenham

Liverpool boss Arne Slot cut a frustrated figure after watching his side labour through the closing stages of their 2-1 away win over Tottenham, despite holding a two-man advantage.

Speaking in his post-match press conference, Slot admitted he was relieved the situation didn’t result in an equaliser, but stressed that he had expected a far more comfortable end to the contest.

Xavi Simons had been dismissed in the first half before Liverpool extended their lead to 2-0 at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Although Richarlison reduced the deficit and Cristian Romero was later sent off, Slot felt Spurs continued to apply relentless pressure even with just nine players on the pitch.

The Dutchman went as far as suggesting it felt like the numerical disadvantage was on his side, clearly unhappy with how his players managed the situation.
“Honestly, I thought we should have been able to keep them well away from our goal against nine men,” Slot said.

“But instead it felt like we were the ones down to nine, because it was attack after attack after attack.”
Injury concern mars Liverpool victory
There was also a sour note on an otherwise positive night for Liverpool, with Alexander Isak picking up another injury.

The Swedish forward has endured a difficult spell since arriving at Anfield in the summer, struggling for fitness and failing to build momentum on the pitch. Slot addressed the setback after the match, and while no official medical update has been given, his comments offered little immediate optimism.
