Injury expert’s early assessment on Alexander Isak may leave Liverpool supporters seriously concerned

Alexander Isak barely had time to celebrate opening the scoring for Liverpool before his night was cut short by injury, having been on the pitch for just over 10 minutes after coming on for Conor Bradley at half-time.

The Swedish forward finished calmly from a Florian Wirtz through ball, but was caught by a poorly timed challenge from Micky van de Ven in the process. Unable to continue, Isak limped off and was replaced by Jeremie Frimpong, who was later withdrawn himself in favour of Federico Chiesa.

Shortly after full-time, football injury analyst Physio Scout offered an early — and heavily caveated — assessment of Isak’s injury on X, stressing that it was no more than an educated initial view.

They suggested: *“From an initial look, this appears to be an ACL injury (+/- meniscus). The first contact was with the ankle, but the knee was forced into a valgus position, bringing the ACL/MCL into consideration. He managed to walk off, which likely rules out a lower-leg fracture, and he was clearly holding his knee.

If it is ACL-related: 9+ months out. Disclaimer: this is only an educated guess at this stage. A full analysis will follow later.”*

Liverpool await clarity on Isak setback
It’s important to stress that this remains a provisional opinion from a respected source, and a clearer picture is unlikely to emerge until Liverpool’s medical team complete further assessments over the coming days.

Even so, any suggestion of an ACL problem is alarming for both Isak and the Reds, who are already set to be without several players for next weekend’s clash with Wolves due to injuries, suspensions and international duty.

The fact that Isak was able to walk off offers some hope that it isn’t a serious fracture, but definitive answers should arrive within the next 24–48 hours.
Arne Slot admitted after the match, speaking via liverpoolfc.com, that the striker making no attempt to continue “is usually not a good sign,” though he was quick to add that this was only his gut feeling.

For now, Liverpool supporters can only wait anxiously and hope the worst-case scenario hinted at by the early analysis does not become reality.
