Fabrizio Romano reports that a key Tottenham Hotspur figure is edging closer to a surprise move to Serie A, with talks progressing toward an unexpected exit.

Tottenham Hotspur sporting director Fabio Paratici is edging closer to leaving the club, with a move to Serie A gathering momentum.

The former Juventus executive has been linked with a surprise exit in recent days, and Fabrizio Romano has now provided an update indicating that an agreement is close. According to the transfer specialist, the Italian club are ready to push forward and finalise Paratici’s appointment as their new Head of Football.

While some formalities still need to be completed with Tottenham, Fiorentina are understood to be confident that a deal can be reached. Writing on X, Romano said:

> “Fiorentina are prepared to advance and seal the appointment of Fabio Paratici as new Head of Football.
Formal steps needed with Tottenham but Fiorentina are confident as the agreement is getting closer.”

Despite his spell at Spurs being interrupted by a FIFA-imposed ban, Paratici has played a key role in shaping the club’s squad, both during his official tenure and later in an informal consultancy capacity.

In his initial period as managing director of football, Paratici oversaw a significant squad rebuild, blending experienced players with high-potential young talent. Even during his ban, he continued to contribute behind the scenes, offering input on recruitment and long-term planning.

A number of Tottenham’s most important and valuable players were signed either directly under Paratici or with his involvement, many of whom have gone on to become first-team regulars and key assets, helping to form the core of the current squad.

Paratici’s influence was such that he was brought back into a sporting role despite the club already appointing Johan Lange in a similar position. With Fiorentina now closing in on his signature, Tottenham may soon be set to lose one of the central figures behind their modern recruitment strategy.
