Even better than Semenyo: Tottenham have opened discussions over a move for a £60m Premier League star.
Tottenham Hotspur have spent heavily on attacking talent in recent seasons as part of their push to compete at the top end of the Premier League.
Following Thomas Frank’s appointment in the summer, the club backed the Dane with a transfer budget exceeding £100m to reshape the squad. Mohammed Kudus and Xavi Simons were brought in, but both have struggled to deliver consistent performances since arriving in North London. Kudus has failed to record a league goal or assist in his last three outings, while Simons was sent off in last weekend’s clash with Liverpool.
In light of these issues, Frank has signalled his desire for further additions during the January transfer window to address Spurs’ recent dip in form.
Spurs tracking Premier League attacking options
Over the past few months, Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo ahead of January. Speculation intensified after it emerged that the 25-year-old has a £65m release clause in his contract. However, a deal now appears increasingly unlikely.
Reports suggest Spurs are set to miss out on Semenyo, potentially clearing the path for Manchester City and Manchester United to pursue the Ghana international.
Despite this, Semenyo is not the only Premier League attacker under consideration. West Ham United captain Jarrod Bowen has once again emerged as a target. According to TEAMtalk, Tottenham are interested in signing the 29-year-old, who has scored five Premier League goals this season.
The report adds that Spurs have been in contact with West Ham across the last four transfer windows, though the Hammers are reluctant to part with their key player mid-season. Previous reports have suggested Tottenham could consider an offer in the region of £60m.
Bowen compared to Semenyo
Semenyo has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League during the 2025/26 campaign, posting impressive numbers in the final third. In his first 16 league appearances, he has scored eight goals and provided three assists, placing him among the division’s top contributors.
His season has included several eye-catching finishes, such as a solo effort against Liverpool on the opening day and a sharp strike from a tight angle against Fulham. His form has made him a popular choice among supporters as a potential January signing.
Bowen, however, offers a strong Premier League track record built over several seasons. The West Ham forward has scored 61 top-flight goals in total, including 16 in 34 league appearances during the 2023/24 campaign.
Although Semenyo has registered more goal contributions this season, Bowen has been more efficient in front of goal. In 2025/26, Bowen has recorded a higher goals-per-shot-on-target ratio, highlighting his clinical edge.
Statistical comparisons also show Bowen with a superior take-on success rate, more carries into the final third, and a higher number of completed crosses per 90 minutes. He has also averaged more shots and fouls won, underlining his overall influence in attacking areas.
Tottenham’s long-standing interest in Bowen means the January window could provide another opportunity to pursue the England international, whose consistent Premier League output aligns with the qualities currently sought by Frank’s side.
