“Won’t agree to a new contract” – Fabrizio Romano delivers major update on potential Thomas Frank successor
Tottenham Hotspur explored several managerial options last summer as they searched for a replacement for Ange Postecoglou. Despite being a hugely popular figure at the club and delivering Spurs’ first Europa League title in 41 years, Postecoglou was moved on after the team finished 17th in the Premier League, with opponents having worked out his tactical approach.
Spurs quickly turned to Thomas Frank, a coach highly regarded across the Premier League after building Brentford into a consistently competitive side. However, the early signs in north London have been far from convincing. A series of heavy defeats — including poor showings against rivals Arsenal and Chelsea — has increased fan frustration, with support for Frank rapidly declining following his confrontational remarks towards supporters in press conferences.

If Spurs decide to part ways with Frank in 2026, their options may be limited, with another mid-table Premier League manager potentially the preferred route. One such name is now emerging.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Crystal Palace head coach Oliver Glasner is expected to become available. Romano reports that the Austrian manager has no intention of agreeing to a new contract, stating that Glasner “plans not to sign a new deal at Crystal Palace.” While he remains focused on Palace’s campaign this season, the decision regarding his future has already been made.
Glasner’s anticipated departure would come a year after he reportedly considered leaving if Marc Guehi had been sold to Liverpool late in the summer transfer window. Palace now appear set to lose both figures without compensation.
Although Palace’s form this season has been underwhelming and Glasner’s handling of the situation has raised concerns, his pedigree stands out. He guided Crystal Palace to FA Cup success last season and previously lifted the Europa League with Eintracht Frankfurt. As a result, he is a figure worth monitoring, even if opinions among Spurs supporters would likely be divided.
