Jurgen Klopp has finally broken his silence on his touchline clash with Mohamed Salah, calling it “not a real big thing” during a candid chat on The Diary of a CEO podcast.

Klopp downplays Salah sideline row

Reflecting on the April 2024 incident during Liverpool’s 2–2 draw with West Ham United, the former Reds manager recalled how Salah appeared frustrated as he prepared to come on as a substitute. Cameras caught the heated exchange, with Darwin Núñez eventually stepping in to calm things down.

Klopp explained:

“We had this one argument, I think with Mo at West Ham on the sideline when he didn’t start and I brought him on and he was not happy.
The problem is our problems then are always in public. That was not a real big thing, but in the moment we didn’t agree definitely.”

Despite the disagreement, Klopp made it clear there’s no bad blood between them:

“We have a very good relationship today, even though on that day it didn’t look like it.”

The incident had caused a stir at the time, given Liverpool’s title push, but Klopp’s comments show it was simply a brief disagreement between two passionate professionals.

Klopp hints at Liverpool return

Away from the sideline spat, Klopp also spoke about his future — and didn’t rule out a potential Anfield comeback.

“I said I would never coach another team in England, so that means if – then it’s Liverpool. So, yeah, theoretically, it’s possible.”

His remarks are sure to excite Liverpool fans who still cherish the legacy he built — from ending the club’s 30-year title drought to establishing the high-intensity, attacking football that remains central under Arne Slot’s leadership today.

While a return remains uncertain, Klopp’s words not only clear the air over his moment with Salah but also reaffirm the respect and connection that still link two of Liverpool’s modern icons.
