In goal, nothing has changed—Alisson Becker is still sidelined with a hamstring injury and hasn’t returned to full training, meaning Giorgi Mamardashvili continues between the posts. Wataru Endo missed the United clash due to a minor issue, while young defender Giovanni Leoni remains out long-term following ACL surgery.
The timing of Gravenberch’s setback is far from ideal. Liverpool entered the international break on the back of three consecutive defeats and have now suffered their first home league loss of the season, despite creating enough chances to earn a result against United.
After Gravenberch’s withdrawal, Slot reshaped his setup, tasking Florian Wirtz and Curtis Jones with greater central roles in a more assertive formation.
Liverpool will look to bounce back quickly, facing Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday (October 22) before travelling to Brentford at the weekend. Gravenberch is a doubt for the midweek tie, but if he doesn’t feature, Slot is expected to rely on Jones, Szoboszlai, or Mac Allister to restore balance and control in midfield.
