Cristian Romero, Destiny Udogie, and Ben Davies were all absent from Tottenham’s training session ahead of Wednesday’s UEFA Champions League clash with Monaco. Thomas Frank’s men head to France looking to build on their European campaign, which has so far seen a win over Villarreal and a 2-2 draw with Bodo/Glimt.

Club captain Romero withdrew during the warm-up of Sunday’s 2-1 defeat to Aston Villa with an adductor problem, while Udogie has been dealing with minor knee irritation following international duty. Although neither issue is believed to be serious, both players missed Tuesday’s training session at Hotspur Way and are doubts for the trip to Stade Louis II.

Ben Davies was also absent, meaning Spurs could be missing as many as 10 players for the game. The team are already without Radu Dragusin, Yves Bissouma, James Maddison, Dejan Kulusevski, and Dominic Solanke through injury, while Kota Takai and Mathys Tel are ineligible after being left out of the Champions League squad.

When asked about Romero’s chances of returning in time to face Monaco, Frank said after the Villa defeat: “I don’t know. He could be, he couldn’t. I just don’t know. Right now, my focus was on speaking to the players and preparing for the next steps. We’ll assess things tomorrow.”
